One of these days

I finished some socks yay. The fox faces pattern was really easy to memorize the mountain colors yarn is ok to. At first I thought it felt like straw but it knits up nicely. I got spoiled by all those mcn’s. One non mcn I’m loving is Sweet Georgia Yarns Tough Love Sock, its soft and smooshy.  I got a skein of wollmeise and I must say, that in my opinion, its highly overrated. It was horrible to knit with. I like smooshy yarns, and smooshy it was not. I won’t be buying that again. I started some socks for my husband with some Sweet Georgia  Yarn in rusted. I will post some pictures of those when they are done. My maternity leave is over in one week. I got the crazy idea that I must finish a cardigan before then. Its so not going to happen but I’m going to try. I frogged a halfway finished Castlegar Cardigan by Laura Chau for the Honeybee Cardigan also by Laura. I love her fingering weight cardigan patterns. Even though I haven’t managed to finish one, which of course is my fault. I’m having problems keeping all my stitches for the lace while swatching for the Honeybee Cardigan so we will see how far I get. I don’t have good luck with making adult cardigans. I have to complete a cardigan for myself. I also started another pair of socks. I also frogged the pair of socks that served as my first blog pic. I was never going to finish them. I seem to have a problem finishing Wendy Johnson patterns. I should take a hint but I just love her pattern books.

A hat

I had a request for a beanie from my mother in law. I get so few requests for knitted items I was happy to oblige. I picked the pattern Hermione Hearts Ron. All the patterns I use can easily be found on ravelry and are usually free in case anyone is wondering. The pattern was very easy and quick and is based on the hat  Hermione wore in one of those Harry Potter films if you follow those. I used a organic cotton yarn Twilleys of Stamford Freedom Sincere Organic Cotton Dk. I don’t know if the name of a yarn, not including the colorway, ever needs to be that long. Its very nice and soft but splitty, but that’s to be expected with a cotton yarn.  I hope the hat fits. I don’t know how I feel about knitting hats. I mean when you are used to knitting socks 132 stitches in one round takes a lot of commitment. I did a gauge swatch but that was pointless since I don’t know how big her head is.  Now its back to the socks and the scarves.

I’m a slacker

So I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been obsessed with reading other peoples blogs and actually knitting.  I’m in love with the to much yarn blog. I have read through all her archives and am now current. I also love amphibiaknits blog and have read through all her old posts. I’m now starting on the blog through the loops and I’m currently reading her 2006 posts. I have also been knitting. I took picture of wips weeks ago and they have grown quite more than what is displayed in these pictures. Thanks to my blog reading I have also spent way to much on yarn.  I temporarily lost my mind and thought  I could order yarn in larger quantities. I will show you what I’ve acquired so far. First the wips….

This first picture is of a scarf I’m making for my mom.  It’s the strangling vine lace scarf using sanguine gryphon skinny bugga, the colorway is Charlotte. This is my first sanguine gryphon purchase thanks to the exposure on mapleweave’s to much yarn blog. I do like it. Their colors are interesting.

Next up we have my fox faces socks. The heels are now completed so they have come a long way from here. I’m knitting them two at a time on two circulars which is my preferred method. The yarn is Mountain Colors Crazyfoot in honey harmony. I’m not to crazy about this yarn. I think Ive become spoiled by mcn’s. This pattern is easy and moves along quickly. I will post updated pics of everything as I finish.

This is cherry leaf scarf. Colorway is gothic rose by mad color fiber arts. I’m having fun knitting this pattern.

Ok on to the yarns. The first is the sanguine gryphon in charlotte. Everlasting by dream in color is the red yarn.  I think the color is called poppy. Then the blue is string theory. I think the color is caper. I’m not sure if I’m gonna like the everlasting but we will see.

Ok this will be from left to right. The first is colorway stargazer and it was acquired on etsy. Next to that is my beloved malabrigo from my lys yarnivore. I dont recall the colorway and I’m to lazy to look right now. Then we have my first skein of wollmeise. I’m not impressed so far but I had to try it. I got it from someone’s stash on ravelry. The color is spice something or other. The two purple skeins are another etsy acquisition and they are bfl. Ive never knit with bfl before. image

This is my first order from sweet georgia yarns! I’m excited about this yarn. The first one is Honey Fig and the second color is boheme. Both colorways are right up my alley I love violets and gray and pink. Yay so I probably wont be buying anymore yarn for many months because I’ve got a new baby and havent gone back to work yet etc etch. Please excuse the camera phone pics again my next purchase will be a good camera. image

Last but not least finished socks yay. They are for my husbands little sister shes about 17 I think. I used versper sock yarn that I got from ravelry as well. I think they came out well. Toe up per usual.  My husband has asked for socks which I thought would never happen. I’m using my wollmeise and using the pattern globe trotter socks. Oh yeah I also cast on froot loop socks using my glimmer yarn. I usually never have this many projects going at once but its fun throwing caution to the wind. I’m also making hermione hearts ron which is a hat for my husbands mom.  Wish me luck in getting anything completed.
